SATURDAY MAY 1 - 2026!
Welcome to the 5th (& very last) edition of WINTER BAY Backyard Ultra - the race in the middle of central Stockholm - with start/finish right at Liljeholmen's subway!
The 1st edition in May-2022 was won by Mai Bui in 41 laps, which also gave her a Silver Ticket (place in Sweden's national team for the WC in Backyard Ultra.
The 2nd edition in May-2023 was won by Szilard Fodor from Hungary in 30 laps.
The 3rd edition in May-2024 was won by Rasmus Stenemo in 39 laps, who also claimed a Silver Ticket.
The 4th edition in May-2025 was won by Mohammed Alaoui in 31 laps.
We get a lot of praise for the incredibly nice, varied course, which runs beautifully along Lake Trekanten, round the magnificent Vinterviken & back again on the other side of the lake to Trekantsparken.
Everything related to the race will contribute to our charity initiative #Run4Diabetesin support of The Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation.
Through WINTER BAY Backyard Ultra 2024, we raised a whopping 43.160 SEK!

THE COURSE
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
- The starting line (& finish line) is located at the small but beautiful Trekantsparken, just 100 meters from the exit of T-bana Liljeholmen. Also called the "Loop Area".
- The 1st kilometer will follow the south side of lake Trekanten on prepared trails with sections of wooden paths.
- The 2nd kilometer will take you through the beauiful Vintervikens Trädgård on gravel/macadam/asphalt paths.
- The 3rd kilometer (almost) you will be running on asphalt paths leading up to the top of Örnberget, where you will face the only steep uphill on the course. Feel free to walk.
- Kilometer 4-5 (almost) starts with a rather heavy descent down to the water, where you will follow Vinterviken (Winter Bay) along lake Mälaren on prepared trails.
- Kilometer 6 (almost) will take you through the residential area of Gröndal along Gröndalsvägen on asphalt pavements.
- The last kilometer (almost) will follow the north side of lake Trekanten, before you reach the loop area & the finish line for each loop.
- ... Then you run & repeat this loop under 1h, until there is just one competitor willing to run one more loop under 1h. Remember, the next loop is always cooler than the previous!
